Baby Cards w/ Box

WOW!.......Has it really been since Monday that I posted?  Where did the week go?  Sorry, I guess I've been really busy.  My friend has talked me into starting a "business" with my papercrafting.  It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, but never knew how to get started.  She is going to help me find some shops and coffee houses and places like that to sell some of my creations.  She even came up with a name....PAPER POSSIBILITIES.  Love it!  I ordered business cards and am getting excited about this new venture.

And being the friend that she is.....she placed the first order yesterday.  She needed 15 Thank You cards and a box with a Baby Theme.  Here's what I came up with...........

I used the new Hostess level 1 set that's in the Occasions Mini right now called A SLICE OF LIFE.  Love this set.  Anyway-have a great evening.  I'll try to post some things over the weekend.

Making Memories Embellishment Center

I have wanted this baby for years!  But have not had a space for it until we got into the new house.  It's so expensive ($80) but holds so much.  I was able to use a coupon at Michael's-so it wasn't too bad.  Well worth the $.  It holds all my ink pads (with room for more!), All my ribbon spools, punches and embellishments.

Don't have time to make a project today-had to take my daughter to Urgent Care this morning.  Strep Throat.  So I'm occupied taking care of her today.

She should feel much better by tomorrow so I'll sneak in my scrap room to make some 3x3 cards to show.

Another Vintage Quilted Top Note

I couldn't resist.  The LOVE LETTER DSP from Stampin Up screams Vintage to me.  I love this paper.  So when I saw scraps of it laying on my scrap pile, I knew I'd have to create another Quilted Top Note card with it today!  This time it was minus the embossing step.

But I added faux stitching by making X's along the seams with my BLACK STAMPIN WRITE MARKER.   Finished it off with VERY VANILLA 5/8" SATIN RIBBON and a black GLIMMER BRAD from the NEUTRALS pack of GLIMMER BRADS in the new OCCASIONS MINI CATALOG.

Have a great weekend~
(Tomorrow I'll try to post a picture of my new purchase from Michael's.  I just have to get my husband to hang it up in my scrap room today!)

I've found a new love..........

Vintage.......totally not my crafting style.  In fact, I can say quite comfortably that I've never made a card or project that has that "vintage feel".  But lately I've fallen in love with some samples I've seen on the internet that are totally vintage looking.  So I told myself while trying to go to sleep last night:
"self-you need to challenge yourself to make something vintage."
So that was my goal this morning.  Attempt my hand at vintage and see how it goes.
It's been a long time since I've done a "quilted top note" card so I thought I could tie that in.  Afterall, who doesn't love the comfort and feel of an old vintage quilt curled up around you?

So here's how you make a "quilted Top Note":

1. Punch out several squares with your square punch from various coordinating DSP and Cardstock.

2. On a piece of 5"x6" copy paper, arrange the squares as you like and glue them down.  Don't worry if they hang over-it will be cut off.

3. Put the copy paper with the glued on squares onto the TOP NOTE die and run it through the BIG SHOT.

For mine, I went a few extra miles.  After punching the squares, I laid them out onto an embossing folder and ran them through the BIG SHOT.

Then I sponged the edges and tops of the squares (to make the embossing lines "pop" with CRUMB CAKE ink.  Then I glued them down onto the copy paper and cut out the TOP NOTE.

For the rest of the card, I "scrunched" up some CRUMB CAKE SEAM BINDING (occasions mini), and stamped "birthday" from the stamp set FABULOUS PHRASES.  I punched it all the way to the right with the MODERN LABEL PUNCH, then folded the left side over.  SLid in some LINEN THREAD and tied it to the SEAM BINDING.

We won't talk about how long it took me to make this card..........it was well worth the time though!

Hope you like the card!

Fancy Favor with a little Punch Bunch

Last night I made this cute Bag using the FANCY FAVOR DIE and the Big Shot.  This box is so quick and easy to put together-it only takes a quick two strips of adhesive! I cut an additional strip of coordinating black cardstock of the top to add a little punch of color to the top of the bag.  I stamped the image from PUNCH BUNCH (sale-a-bration) twice.  Once in Cherry Cobbler, once in black.  Punched the black image out with the SCALLOP CIRCLE PUNCH, and cut the flowers out from the red image.  Popped up the flowers with STAMPIN DIMENSIONALS on top of the black flowers.  I layered it onto a red circle then on a larger black scallop.  Then I punched a hole at the top with my CROP O DILE.  I tied the VERY VANILLA SEAM BINDING ribbbon from the occasions mini at the top.  Hope you like it!

Bliss!

Ahhhh.......it's sunny and 65 degrees today.  The snow is melting.  And it's supposed to be up to 75 degrees on Friday!  Absolutely Bliss-spring is on it's way.  Today's card is made from the SALE-A-BRATION stamp set called "Bliss".  It was quick and easy with the help of the Big Shot and the scallop and circle dies I have.

Have a blessed Valentine's Day!  Thanks to hubby, my belly is full of lobster, crab legs and shrimp scampi.  I sure do love Red Lobster-even though it was hard to watch hubby eat all the garlic Cheddar Biscuits!

No project today

well.......that's not entirely true.  I am working on a project-but it's nothing too exciting to take a picture of.  I'm up to my chin in ribbon.  I'm cutting 465 yards of ribbon for my ribbon share buyers.  I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew.  I started working at 4 o'clock yesterday and worked on it for 4 hours.  I have literally been working on it for 5 hours today and I am officially half-way done.  Remind me if I ever do a ribbon share again, to make it be about 15 yards per person, instead of 30!

New 3-D Box!

Here's an adorable box I made today!  It holds 5 matching 3x3 cards with envelopes.  Ain't it cute?  (yes, I know that's not proper English-get over it!)  This is a workshop waiting to happen......can't you picture it now:

Can't you see this in other color combos-you can pick your own colors!  Or stay with the color combo I did.  The possibilities are endless!  Oh, I think I've just tasted a little piece of heaven!  Details in a day or two-

Valentine Mailbox

I was having problems with Blogger yesterday uploading pix, so I never got this posted.  Yesterday my daughter and I worked on getting her mailbox done for her Valentine Party at school.  We bought the mailbox from Michael's for $3.99 then altered it the way she wanted.  I thought it turned out pretty cute!  I'll post again later from what I make today!
Used the Big Shot to cut out her name.  Used the small heart punch and full heart punch along with some V-Day stamp sets to add extra embellishing.  She loves how it turned out!

Baby Card for Stamp Club

Here's a card we're making at my Stamp Club tonight.  I wish I would've kept the onsie's on the background paper that was the same instead of mixing them up.. I think I'll encourage the girls to do it that way tonight (pink on pink, blue on blue, etc.)  Sorry I haven't posted the past few days....kinda been in a slump.  Hopefully I'm coming out of it!  But thanks to all of you who read my blog regularly and those that post comments.  I was so blessed by Jenn telling me the other day how much she looks forward to seeing what I create everyday.  Thanks Jenn!  C U tonight!

Friday Mashup

Here's my card for Friday Mashup's Sketch Challenge.  I loved the color combo so much from Inkspirations- I used my scraps to create this card for my brother and my father-in- law.  Since they are from different sides of the family-I get to make it easy and just duplicate the card.  (Don't tell me you wouldn't do it!) Besides, I really struggle w/ masculine cards-so the less I have to make the better!

STAMP SET: Birthday Wish (retired)
CARDSTOCK: Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Whisper White
DSP: Cherry Cobbler
WOW FACTORS: Modern Label Punch, Glimmer Brads Neutrals

Inkspirations Color Challenge #56

I love the color combo for this week's color challenge over at Inkspirations.  Cherry Cobbler (my favorite red), Baja Breeze, Basic Black and Whisper White.  This color combo would be great for a masculine card too.  I made another one of my scrunched scallop circle flowers for this challenge.  They are so fun to make!
Back later with my Friday Mashup Card~

Offended by generic Pepto

***WARNING*** not stamping related!

Don't worry, this is not a gross story.  You can precede to read-

After reading last night, I laid down to go to sleep and started to get the most awful heartburn.  It felt like someone was ripping me from my throat to my stomach.  After several attempts at getting comfortable, I took my Kindle into the bathroom so I wouldn't disturb hubby.  While reading and burping and holding a hot rag on my chest (which doesn't work by the way!), I couldn't believe that the 2 pieces of pizza minus the crust I had earlier could have put me in such pain.  After my husband askes if I'm ok, I precede to tell him I'm dying of heartburn and need some pepto.  He trys to tell me pepto is not for heartburn.  "The heck it ain't" I say.  It says it right on the bottle.

So he goes to get the bottle from the medicine cabinet (more to prove me wrong then to actually get it to help me I think) and once again I am right.  It's for heartburn too.  Na Na Na Na boo boo.

So after drinking probably more than my fair share of the generic pepto,  (which didn't end up working either) I am reading the label to make sure I can be taking it with my other prescription meds.  I know, I know, I should've been doing that first.  But I couldn't think straight through the fire in my chest.  So forgive me.

So I'm reading the label and I see this.....
RELIEVES DIARRHEA, TRAVELERS DIARRHEA, HELPS FIRM STOOL, REDUCES NUMBER OF BOWEL MOVEMENTS, RELIEVES UPSET STOMACH ASSOCIATED WITH NAUSEA, HEARTBURN, FULLNESS, BELCHING AND GAS DUE TO OVERINDULGENCE IN FOOD AND DRINK.

Overindulgence!  Since when  is the toppings off two slices of pizza considered overindulgence?  I'm very offended.  I'm far from an over-eater.

Does that mean I brought this upon myself?  I sure hope not or else my chili dog w/ cheese and onions I just had for lunch might think I need some help from the thick yucky pink stuff again.  Only, I don't think I'll give it the satisfaction of being completely useless tonight.

Thanks for letting me vent-I feel better.

Cards for Mini Magazine Holder

Hey!  So....I finished "Room" early this morning.  It definitely goes down as one of the top 5 books I think I've ever read.  So since I have nothing to read, I was able to get into my scrap room and make 4 more cards to go in my holder.  I figure along with 5 envelopes and the card I posted yesterday-they will all fit in there nicely!

#1

#2....

#3...

#4...

Hope you enjoy them- Have a blessed day!

P.S.  I want to do a quick thank-you "shout-out" to Anita for organizing our scrap weekend a few weeks ago.  Without her I think we'd all rarely get together!  She thinks of such great ways for us girls to hang out.   Thanks Anita-you're the best!

Sorry!

Ok.....I know I promised cards (plural) to go in my mini magazine holder.  But I have to confess and get something off my chest.  I only made one (singular!) today.  I know, I know....terrible, right?  Well, in my defense:  I am reading this new book that is just captivating me.  It's called ROOM.  I just can't make myself put it down.  I have literally carried my Kindle  w/ me everywhere I've gone today.

I read while cleaning my kitchen, putting laundry in the washing machine-even took it to the bathroom when I needed to brush my teeth this morning.  Highly, highly highly,
reccomend this book to ANYONE.  Weather you're a typical 'reader' or not.  It's about a five year old boy who was born in a old tool shed that was converted to a "holding place" for his kidnapped mom.  The boy has spent his whole life in the shed and knows nothing about the outside world.  The captivating part.......it's all written from the boys' perspective.  I won't spoil any of the book by going on, but I can't wait to see what happens next.

So here's the one card I made to go in my card holder.  It is really cute-huh?  Hopefully I'll be able to put the Kindle down for awhile tomorrow to be able to make more matching cards!

Back to my Kindle! --

PPA Color Challenge 79

Ok.  I must admit, (curse of being brutally honest I guess)  when I got the challenge in my inbox this morning for Pals Paper Arts, I couldn't believe it.  To each his own, I know.  But this color combo was not one I would have put together in a million years voluntarily.  I didn't like them even one tiny little bit.

I guess that's the beauty of challenges though.  They get you out of ruts, even if you don't know you're in one.  I get the green and purple-I use those together all the time.  They're great compliments to each other.  But red with them?  Really?  Seriously?  What on earth am I to make w/ Riding Hood Red, Rich Razzleberry, and Certainly Celery?  Well........
I dusted off my sewing machine for this challenge (ok, I didn't really dust it, per se'.  It's an expression people!  I assure you, there is still plenty of dust on it.)

And I hate to admit it, but I really like how this card turned out.  I don't know if I'll be reaching for these 3 colors together again any time soon-but hey, it was fun while it lasted!  Thanks PPA for allowing me to create something I love that never would have seen the likes of my scrap room otherwise!

Back later with my matching cards for yesterdays mini magazine card holder-

{still going stir-crazy and sick of the snow},

Mini Magazine Card Holder

Hey.  So....I'm going crazy from being couped up in this blizzard.  Hubby spent hours shoveling the 20 inches that turned into 3 foot snow drifts in our driveway.  After dinner, we were finally able to get out of the house and took a little drive around town to see all the snow everyone got.  Craziness I tell ya!  All these snow days having my kids (and hubby) home keeps me busy and out of my craft room.  So after we got back from our drive,  I told my hubby I was locking myself in my craft room to be "crafty" before American Idol comes on......can't miss that!  So this is what I made.  I found the instructions here:

http://www.sunflowerstamping.com/2008/11/magazine-holder-tutorial.html

Hope you like it.  Tomorrow I'm going to make matching cards to go inside.  Right now I just filled it up w/ misc. cards so you could see it filled.  I easily fit 10 cards inside.

stay warm and safe-

Mojo Squared

Yesterday's Mojo Monday Challenge is a sketch Challenge for a Round or Square Card.  I think they always do this the last Monday of the month.  I opted for the Square.  I'm a little intimidated to try the round.  My goal is by the last Monday in February when they do the Round or Square option-I'll go out on a limb and try the round.  Anyhoo-when I saw the sketch for Monday I fell in love with it.  I will probably be making several cards for my stash based om Mondays sketch.  Here's the sketch:
Here's what I came up with for the challenge:

I love how easy it is to put cute flowers together using the Boho Blossoms punch from Stampin Up.  And how easy it is to find SU cardstock to match patterned paper that I fall in love with that isn't from SU!

Thanks for checkin' out my Mojo.......now go make one for yourself!  You can sign up to get Mojo Monday's Sketch Challenges sent to your email box every Monday by going to http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/ and subscribing to the blog.  That way you can play along!
