Card Patterns Challenge

Sorry to all of you daily post readers (if there are any of you out there!) for not posting yesterday.  Couldn't get motivated to get into the craft room.  But today I made this card for the sketch challenge over at CARD PATTERNS.  I learned the ribbon scrunching from Mary Fish over at Stampin' Pretty.  Although I should've used glue dots to glue down the bottom of the ribbon-not to crazy about the staples on it.  But oh well-you live you learn!
Have a good evening-and stay warm!

Paper Holder for Hubby

Hey all!

This is the paper holder I made for my hubby's nightstand.  Although I am not a fan of the color combo, it was not about me so I chose his favorite colors.  Yes, the KC Chiefs colors.
I added a pen holder to the side for him.

Looks horrid with my Baja Breeze and Early Espresso colors in my bedroom though.  Oh well-I suppose I'll get over it.  But if he doesn't seem appreciative when he see's it-you know I'll be making a blue/brown version!

Pencil Pouch

Here's a pencil pouch I made this morning.  Not thrilled with it so I kept on tweaking different things, and finally I gave up.  I guess it's ok-but not really what I was going for.  These would be cute to give out at your kids' V-day parties at school.  Or any other holiday party as far as that goes.  Here the instructions: (hopefully yours will be cuter than mine!)

Cut a piece of Cardstock at 7-3/4x4-5/8.  (Or you could use patterned paper if you don't have v-day themed stamps.) Stamp as desired.  Turn cardstock vertical, score at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4.

Then apply sticky strip along the bottom on the inside (non-stamped side) and up the skinny scored side on the outside (stamped side).  I really hope I'm making sense here!  Stick it together, punch part of a circle on the top edge for the pencils to go in.  Then stamp or embellish as desired.

I'd love you to see your version if you create one!

STAMP SETS:  I (heart) Hearts, Filled with Love, Valentine Defined
CARDSTOCK: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Real Red
INK: Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Early Espresso
WOW FACTORS: Small heart punch, large heart punch, circle punch

3-D Note Holder

Hey all.  This morning I made this paper holder to set on my scrap desk.  I always find myself needing a scrap of paper to write notes on or ideas, phone numbers-that sort of thing.  So I think this will be perfect.  I've been wanting to try this flower for a few weeks now-but just haven't came up with the right project for it.  Until now!

I just punched out 7 scallop circles with my punch, sprayed the heck out of them with
H2-O, stacked them, put a brad through the middle and scrunched them.  Let them dry and voila!-instant fabulous-ness.

I may have to make one of these in a manly version for my hubby to keep on his nightstand.  That way when he gets called out for his job-he can have paper handy.

Hope you all like it!

STAMP SETS: Valentine Defined

DSP: (Retired) Sending Love
INK: Wild Wasabi and Real Red Markers

Recouping

Hey everyone!  I think I am still recouping from the fabulous weekend I had scraping with my friends in Jeff City.  Mainly, I think my stomach is recouping from all the goodies I ate while I was there!

My best-est friend surprised me with a trip to the gluten-free bakery in Jeff City (high-ly recommend it!) and bought me some delicious goodies that I am actually allowed to eat!  I scarfed down the cupcakes while scrapping on Friday and Saturday, had the most yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast yesterday morning and my family is all enjoying the zucchini bread!  Thanks Anita!  You R truly the best!

I feel like I haven't posted in forever!  These are all some pics of some of the cards I made this weekend.  I didn't make it home with much to show-but I still had a blast!

I obviously won't list everything I used to create these cards.  But if you have any questions about any of the products used, please just leave me a comment and I'll get back to you.  I will tell you I got alot of good out of my new favorite tool: THE TINY ATTATCHER from Tim Holtz.  (purchased for $10 w/ a Coupon at Michaels!)  It's this stapler that has tiny little staples-so stinkin' cute!  Have a wonderful Monday!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

My cards tend to all start looking alike as far as layouts go.  It's something I struggle with.  So I signed up to get the Mojo Monday email every Monday that includes a sketch Challenge.  The card I made today is for my first Mojo Monday Challenge.  I've never done a challenge online before.  I figure if nothing else-it's inspires me to create cards that are a little out of my box.  I guess we all need to get outside of our boxes sometime!

STAMP SETS: Valentine Defined (tree), Bold Blossom (butterflies), and Fabulous Phrases (word)
CARDSTOCK: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi
INK: Pretty in Pink, Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso
DSP: Wild Wasabi DSP
WOW FACTORS: 5/8 Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Jewelry Tag Punch, Basic Jewels

On a change of subject.....I actually created another piece of art today.  It's my worst yet.  No honestly-I've never been more disappointed in my artistic abilities.  The use of the purple nail polish wasn't quite the look I was going for.   Why didn't I think to use clear?
Yes, it's true....I broke a bottle of nail polish on my carpet today.  I was furious with myself.  It's going to be a pretty penny to fix it.  Oh, well....I'm a klutz.  My husband knew it when he married me.  Not much to do about it now!

CC from PPA

Hello class.  Welcome to school.  Today you will learn a few of my abbreviations I use for all my crafting.  This morning I made this card based on a Color Challenge (CC) from the website Pals Paper Arts (PPA).  It is using Pear Pizzaz, Perfect Plum and Marina Mist.  I think the challenge originally called for Baja Breeze, but I only had Marina Mist.  And shush.....don't tell them over at PPA, but I like Marina Mist better.
This card is actually going to be used-GASP!  I know.  I'm terrible at actually sending out cards.  But the past few weeks my mom has been so busy taking care of my grandmother as their roles are starting to reverse lately as she ages.  I'm so proud of her and just wanted to let her know she's doing a great job and I love her.  I probably don't tell her enough. I challenge you this week to let someone you love know how much they mean to you.  Sometimes we don't get that chance.  Life can be too short.
Ok-I'm done being sappy.......onto the card!

It was inspired by this pattern here:

Bah-Bah-Bah-Bah-Bah, I'm lovin' It!

Ok, so hopefully you don't want McDonald's now.  Just wanted to show my excitement over my project for today.  I'm so easy to please.  Apparently it doesn't take much to make me happy.  I bought a Martha Stewart Scoring Board a few months ago and use it all the time.  I used it to make todays project.  It's an 8x8x2 inch box.  With the cutest paper bow on top.  I found the tutorial for the bow here:

http://expressivedesigns.wordpress.com/2011/01/01/paper-bow-tutorial/

I also used my Butterfly Embosslit again.  You'll probably be seeing alot of these flying creatures on my blog.  They are so fun!

That's all I have for today.  By the way......the first person who Comments on this post, wins the box!  ( must be someone local!) Just click on "0 Comments" under the post to add a comment.  Hope you all are enjoying my blog so far.  I'm totally up for constructive criticism.  I can take it.  Or suggestions on what you might like to see in the future.  Please let me know.  I'd love to hear from you in the Comments section.  Later-

A miracle in a $4 bottle

Some say that miracles are priceless.....I beg to differ.  Because the miracle I bought at Michael's cost me $4.  But it just might be the best $4 I've ever spent.  A lot of my friends are skeptics when it comes to the new clear mount stamps from Stampin' Up.  They say that they have a hard time with the stamps "clinging" to the blocks.  I only have this problem on occasion, but my friends often use my stamps too.  I'm a bit of a people pleaser, so after doing a little research, I bought this bottle of "Aleene's Tack It Over & Over" at Michael's.  Using a foam brush, you just apply a thin layer of the re-positional glue on the part of the stamp that "clings" to the clear acrylic block.  Then let it dry overnight.  And like magic, instant cling-age (it's a word in the JRob dictionary if you mush know!) to your clear block.  Just please blot the stamp onto you pants or shirt a few times before you cling it to your block for the first time.  It's a little to cling-ish if you don't!

Sidenote-I'm also using this miracle in a bottle to de-mount all my wood block stamps and converting them to the cling style so I can use them on clear blocks.  I just microwave the stamp for 10 seconds to losen the adhesive on the foam.  Then I remove the stamp and foam from the block, the apply the glue to the foam as above.  Loving the results!

Simple but Cute

I created this card based on another demonstrator's card I'd seen online somewhere.  I fell in love with the simplicity of it and the colors.  Only, when I made it-I felt like it still needed something.  I just haven't figured out what.  I may try and add some ribbon or something to it, who knows!  If you have any suggestions, please let me know-'cuz I'm stumped.

I used the "Beautiful Wings" Embosslit for these adorable little butterflies.  Embosslits are great timesavers and so much fun to use.  They cut and emboss all in one quick roll through the Sizzix Big Shot.  This embosslit is shown in the picture with the 4 other butterflies I didn't use on the card.

May be back later with another card.  I can't always stop when I've made something I'm not too crazy about.......always have to end on a good note!  Funny how a person can be equally a procrastinator and a perfectionist!  Speaking of........I really need to be vacuuming and cleaning my house, but it can wait, right?  There are cards to be made and cardstock to be cut!  Later-

J

Can you feel the Love?

This is a card that's gonna be pretty tough to actually give away!  (I'll just give it to my husband-that way I can get it back!)  It's using my new favorite stamp set from Stampin' Up.  It's called Valentine Defined and is from the new Occasions Mini catalog.  This versitile stamp set could be used for so much more than Valentine's Day.  Think anniversarys, birthdays, thinking of you.  Hope you like it!  Give me a virtual high five if you do!

A Blog Virgin

Hello everyone! I must let you in on a little secret-(shush, don't tell anyone.) I'm a virgin-a blog virgin that is. This is a new venture for me, a very scary one. But one I've wanted to do for a while. I told myself the other day that I want to spend more time creating. I said, "Self, I want to make something everyday." So that's my goal. Now all of you who know me know how big of a procrastinator I am, so we'll see how this goes! That's where my blog comes in.....I'll be (hopefully) posting my creation(s) everyday. Feel free to stop by my blog when you need a little inspiration or some ideas when you are crafting. You can also subscribe to my blog to get updates when I post. So here it goes.....I'm diving in-I sure hope the water's not cold...........
Back later with my creation of the day! Peace out-
